Fonds consists of reports and published and unpublished material which reflect his anthropological interests particularly in the areas of religion and mythology. Fonds also includes Burridge's B. Litt. thesis (1950) and Ph.D. thesis (1953), as well as some recordings of his class lectures given from 1986-1987.

Kenelm Burridge was born in Malta and attended Oxford University where he completed his B.Litt. (1950) and M.A. (1952) in Anthropology. He then obtained a Ph.D. in this field from the Australian National University in 1953. Burridge has conducted fieldwork in New Guinea, Malaya, Australia and the Melanesian Islands.
